Ashwagandha is a plant found in India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. The name comes from Indian and means something like "smell of the horse". In Germany, this plant is also known as sleeping berry, winter cherry or Indian ginseng. If you look back in history, you will find that Ashwagandha has been known in Ayurvedic medicine for over 3000 years.
As with most plants, the best and most concentrated ingredients are not found in the leaves, but in the roots. In addition to fatty acids, amino acids, cholines, alkaolides and especially withanolides can also be found here.
And there we are with the main active ingredient of this medicinal herb. The withanolides are responsible for the effect that is appreciated and loved all over the world. Their proportion in the extract should be as high as possible. But beware! Not all information is correct. Why? Many manufacturers state a value beyond the 8-9% mark, which is not entirely correct. This value can only be reached if a gravimetric analysis is performed. To keep it simple, here the amount of fabric is done by measuring the weight. The problem here is that not only withanolides are measured, but also other, similar substances. The concentration can be overestimated by a factor of 2 to 3.
In our extract, the withanolide content is measured at the molecular level using the HPCL method and is one of the most accurate measurement methods! In addition, no alcohol or other chemical additives are used in the manufacturing process!
Ashwagandha is considered a so-called adaptogen. Adaptogens are substances that trigger or support an adaptation reaction in the body. This can increase resilience. Generally speaking, adaptogens have a balancing effect on the body, both mentally and physically. Important to mention: Adaptogens are usually free of side effects and non-toxic to humans.
Taking Ashwagandha CAN provide the following benefits
- has a stabilizing effect on the blood sugar level
- has both a stimulating (underactive) and inhibiting (overactive) effect on thyroid problems
- it has a positive influence on libido and potency in men
- it has a positive effect on discomfort during menopause in women
- it has a neuroprotective effect and can improve the ability to concentrate
- Ashwagandha is considered a "fake antioxidant", so it doesn't directly neutralize free radicals, but it can support the cells in doing so!
- it has an anti-inflammatory effect and increases the activity of natural killer cells (NK cells)
- it can inhibit excessive production of cortisol, THE #1 STRESS HORMONE
- it stimulates the GABA receptors and can thus contribute to inner peace and better sleep without making you tired
